What an exciting journey we’re about to embark on together—Roadschooling the USA! This 18-week program is your family’s ticket to discovering the heart of America, one state at a time, while hitting the open road in your RV or exploring virtually from home. We’ll celebrate the patriotic spirit of our nation’s growth, from the original 13 colonies to the vast landscapes that make the U.S. a land of endless adventure. Get ready for upbeat fun with hikes in national parks, family movie nights, inspiring books, museum hops (with smart savings via memberships like NARM and ASTC), and hands-on activities that build lasting memories. Whether you’re full-time RV nomads, weekend warriors,or hanging out at home, this program fuels curiosity, patriotism, and that unbeatable American can-do attitude!

We’ll focus on the 48 contiguous states in the order they joined the Union, grouped into threes for weeks 2-17. (Bonus: Tackle Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C., as optional extensions during wrap-up or future trips—perfect for dreaming big!)

Each week includes:

  • History Spotlight: Quick facts on when and why the states joined.
  • RV Adventures: Suggested stops, parks, and recreation.gov spots for camping or day trips.
  • Media Magic: Family-friendly movies and books (check pluggedin.com for reviews to keep it wholesome).
  • Hands-On Fun: Patriotic crafts, recipes, or challenges.
  • Membership Perks: Free or discounted entry to museums/zoos via NARM/ASTC—track your savings like pros!
  • Weekly Challenge: A family activity to tie it all together. Check out the group project ideas with friends!

Although we recommend you start at the beginning, you can jump right in anywhere you’d like, whenever you’d like.

Printables – maps, worksheets, activities and checklists can be found on each weeks page. For the ones you’ll be using for the 18 weeks are all in week one. Printables will be imbedded directly on the weeks page.
